2.11 Global context menu


To use the global context menu, follow these steps:




  1. Swipe down then right. (You can assign a different gesture in TalkBack settings.)
  2. The menu is a circle or a list, depending on your TalkBack settings.
    • Circle menu: To explore the menu, drag your finger. To choose an item, lift your finger.
    • List menu: To explore the menu, swipe right or left. To choose an item, double-tap.



The global context menu includes the following options:




  • Read from top: Hear a read-out of all items on the screen, starting from the top.
  • Read from the next item: Hear a read-out of all items on the screen, starting from the last focused item.
  • Repeat the last utterance: Hear the last verbalization again.
  • Spell the last utterance: Hear a letter-by-letter spelling of TalkBack’s last verbalization.
  • Copy the last utterance to clipboard: Copy the last-spoken phrase to your clipboard in order to paste into another app or take other action on it.
  • Screen search: Search the screen for a term that you type
  • TalkBack Settings: Open TalkBack Settings.
    • If you’ve set context menus to appear as circles, this option is outside the circle menu on the top right corner of your screen.
  • Text to speech settings: Open text to speech settings.
    • If you’ve set context menus to appear as circles, this option is outside the circle menu on the bottom right corner of your screen.
  • Dim screen: Reduce the brightness of your screen.
    • If you’ve set context menus to appear as circles, this option is outside the circle menu on the bottom left corner of your screen.
